Well, where do I start? I guess from the first time I saw him. This QB in a Linebackers body. A lot of hype and a backup with the Gators with high hopes of taking the Gators to the next level with Urban Meyer and Chris Leak along with a very talented Gator team. Every interview I saw with Tebow was strange, I mean was this guy faking it? He could not be real right? Strong faith, praising God? Positive. Tenacity. Athletic. Any any girl around thought he was so good looking. I kept waiting for him to slip up. He really could not be this good right?
Tebow proved me wrong along with several millions of doubters, skeptics, haters and non-believers. I mean no one could be this good, say all the right things every single time. As time passed, as Tebow passed, jump passed, ran, scored TD’s and dominated the NCAA and winning 2 National Championships for the Gators he just kept on doing the same thing. He was humble, yet confident. He was a great leader, honest and setting the example on what you would want your child to grow up and be like. He never tried to hide his faith. The more he played, spoke and won the larger his fan base grew.
He was drafted by the Denver Broncos and the fan base grew. He had a magical season with Denver in his second season and it grew even more. He was traded to the Jets, signed by the Patriots and cut, went through QB drills to revamp his throwing motion. He was following his dream to be an NFL QB and the fan base continued to grow. The Eagles called and I thought we won the starting job, if not a clear backup to Bradford over Sanchez and Barkley. He was unexpectedly cut from the Eagles and fans were outraged and the fan base grew.
Tim did not give up. NFL did not want him, fine. He decided on continuing working at ESPN, focusing on his foundation and training for baseball. Tim never stops and his fan base continues to grow. He smiles, signs autographs, writes inspirational books and spends his time unselfishly helping others. Tim sets the standard in so many ways on how we could all treat each other better, have better manners, character.
Tebow handles success and disappointment exactly the same way, with class, humble and dignity. I started a group on Facebook to defend him and provide a haven of safety for the his fans. Social Media can be a really ugly place and this group of fans that started with 15 has grown to over 6000 plus. I hope one day to meet Tim. One thing for sure, I wish we had more Tim Tebows in the world, it would be a better place. I mean, how can anyone not like Tim Tebow?
