Any fan of wrestling knows Charlotte Flair. I read social media and have heard her opponents tease or taunt Charlotte about being Ric Flair’s Daughter. When I hear it I have to laugh, I mean really? We have all heard it, people say that Charlotte only gets the title shots or has success because she’s a Flair, or because of her Daddy. Of course, it’s a ridiculous statement. If that was true then why isn’t Tamina Snuka experiencing the same success? What about Natalya Neidhart? Lacey Von Erich? Shaul Guerrero? Noelle Foley?
All of these women have famous fathers. Why aren’t any of these gals as popular or used as much as Charlotte? You already know why, the bottom line is that Talent, Charisma & Hard Work pay off. Love or Hate Charlotte, she is and has been the top female in the WWE for a long time.
So back to my point, how many male stars have been pushed like Charlotte that have a famous Daddy? Hmmm, so let me see, Randy Orton? Dustin & Cody Rhodes? The Rock? The Funk’s? The Guerrero’s? All because of their Daddy’s, right? Having a parent to help you get into the business is very helpful, just ask Shane and Stephanie McMahon.
The main reason all of these wrestlers have a name in the industry is because of hard work, tenacity diet, ring work and mic practice not to mention working out like fiends. We never hear anyone say with any of the male stars that in order to be pushed because of their family name, its always portrayed as an honor or a legacy thing, but we always hear because Charlotte is Ric Flairs daughter is mostly the reason she is so successful.
Charlotte Flair is just like her Dad but even more talented as a wrestler (no disrespect to Ric, he is the greatest ever to lace up the boots). Charlotte is a combination of Lita and Ric Flair in the ring. She knows how to work as a heel or a face and makes everyone that steps in the ring with her look great.
I mean how many female wrestlers go to the top turnbuckle and backflip outside the ring on their opponents? Charlotte is athletic, strong, talented, never boring, sells well, a strong technical wrestler, brawls when she wants to and draws the crowd (whether you love her or hate her). She has improved on her mic skills and will get better as she goes and is great heel or a face.
In my opinion, Charlotte was never “handed” anything, if anything she had a tougher road and appreciates it more. She is doing this for her brother Reid, her Father, but mostly for herself. Think about it, the expectations she had to live up to. The daughter of Ric Flair (Greatest ever to step in the ring) and she had to learn to wrestle and train just like the rest of the talent in WWE. I imagine it was a daunting task at the start to even try to follow in her fathers footsteps.
The McMahon’s are not idiots, they know what works. They take their best talent, loved or not and push it hard. Charlotte has earned everything she has achieved. Her success is earned and it’s not by accident that Charlotte Flair’s string of 16 straight pay-per-view victories in singles competition happened.
No female has the success that Charlotte has been able to obtain in her time in WWE and she is just getting started.
- NXT Women’s Championship (1 time)
- WWE Divas Championship (1 time)
- WWE Raw Women’s Championship (4 times)
- WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship (4 times)
Look how many female wrestlers that Charlotte had put over! Sasha Banks, Carmella, Becky Lynch, Paige and recently, Bailey. So just like her Daddy, Love her or Hate her, Charlotte makes the female WWE division relevant by making you root for her or against her depending on who she is wrestling.
So instead of not liking Charlotte for her name, her popularity or just because she wins too much, sit back and just watch history being made because you all know that Charlotte will be in the WWE Hall of Fame just like many of the talented women before her. Woooo!
